Eating out for your goals

Image
Hello beautiful ones! Long time no post! I apologise because I have no excuse as to why I have been MIA but I will try not to make it the norm. I promise! 😊 So, who else gets worried when they have to eat out? I feel very worried when I have to eat out and especially at weddings. This is because it is easier to check a restaurant's menu online before heading there than it is to know what will be served at a wedding. The 'not knowing' makes me nervous because I know that most times it will mean eating things that are incompatible with my goals. If this resonates with you, do not despair because I have found the perfect solution to this problem! The solution? Always eat before you head out to your events. It really is that simple! I have found out that every time I have a high protein, high fibre meal/snack before heading to a wedding or an event, I am less likely to "accidentally indulge". Do not get me wrong. Sometimes, I love to indulge for the fun of...

Women & Weights

Image
Ask a woman to start weight training and the next thing she visualizes in her mind is her face on the body of Arnold Schwarzenneger. 😅  Funny but truueeeee. Most women won't touch anything heavier than 2kg dumbbells even if their life depends on it because they don't want to look "manly". This idea that lifting weights make you look manly has been perpetuated for so long that it seems to be the truth but is it really? No it's not! On its own, lifting weights will not make a woman "manly" and neither will it make a man more "manly" either. Weight lifting is not that powerful trust me. If you want toned arms like Michelle Obama's or thighs like Serena's, then not only do you have to eat a certain way, you also need to combine this with the right lifting protocol. This is only way to get any meaningful gains from lifting weights. So if for instance, you randomly pick up 10kg dumbbells and do 10 reps of bicep curls with it, yo...

Becoming The Fit Bride

Image
Source: www.tlc.com Some women regard their wedding day as one of the happiest days in their lives and the excitement building up to it is palpable in everything they do including how they want to look on the D-day. While some women are not fussy about how they look and just want to marry the love of their life, other women want to look near perfect and spend time, money and energy trying to get in shape to fit into their dream dress. Whether or not a woman is fussy about how she will look on that day is up to her but the important thing is that she takes care of herself  prior to the event. It is a great idea to maintain good health by drinking enough water, eating well, getting some exercise and not allowing oneself to be stressed by wedding prep.  If you aim to lose weight to fit into your dream dress or just be healthy, it is a good idea to pace yourself and give yourself between 3 – 12 months to accomplish your goal de...

Dressing to flatter your figure

Image
One of the things I find fascinating about shopping for wedding dresses is how many different styles of wedding dresses there are. Apart from this, there are different necklines, sleeve lengths, dress lengths etc and it can be a bit overwhelming! But... it does not have to be so. If you are looking to enjoy your wedding dress shopping experience, it is a good idea to prepare for it. Start by figuring out (or having someone assess) what your body shape is. Then determine what your style personality is and then aim to highlight those parts of your body that are flattering and most attractive. This will help you pick a wedding dress that suits your shape and personality and flatters your figure.  Everyone has their dream wedding dress and it is okay to want to get married in a dress you have been dreaming about all your life. But if the dress does not work for your shape or personality, it is also okay to change your mind and get married in a dress that is more suited to who yo...
