Some women regard their wedding day as one of the happiest days in their lives and the excitement building up to it is palpable in everything they do including how they want to look on the D-day. While some women are not fussy about how they look and just want to marry the love of their life, other women want to look near perfect and spend time, money and energy trying to get in shape to fit into their dream dress. Whether or not a woman is fussy about how she will look on that day is up to her but the important thing is that she takes care of herself prior to the event. It is a great idea to maintain good health by drinking enough water, eating well, getting some exercise and not allowing oneself to be stressed by wedding prep.

If you aim to lose weight to fit into your dream dress or just be healthy, it is a good idea to pace yourself and give yourself between 3 – 12 months to accomplish your goal depending on how much weight you need to lose. Don’t starve yourself or crash diet because you may end up sick and look less than luster on that day. Create a healthy eating plan that will help you eat clean, nutritious REAL food at least 80-90% of the time and watch your portions too! Eating clean, real food is always a great idea but what will aid your weight loss is eating proper-portioned meals which contain sufficient quantities of good quality protein, good fats, and unrefined carbohydrates. Above all, drink loadsssssssss of water because it will help to flush toxins out of the body, aid weight loss, keep your skin supple and keep you full too!

In addition to eating well, get some exercise! Exercise increases our metabolism and aids weight loss. Exercising also induces endorphins which will make you feel great as the day draws near! Trust me you will need that ‘feel great’ hormone especially in the midst of the chaos of wedding prep. Find exercises you like and aim for 30 – 45 minutes of exercise 3 – 5x a week. If you have access to a gym, awesome! If not, be creative with what is around you. Fitness ‘equipments’ are all around us. Open your eyes and you’ll see.

Transforming your body for the wedding will not be complete if you don't have a fabulous dress to show off your new body! So when it comes to finding The Dress, aim for flattering cuts that you are comfortable in. Find a dress that accentuates your assets and hides any flaws. For instance, if you have nice shoulders but a big belly, consider wearing a strapless empire dress that will show off your sexy shoulders and hide the tum. If you are top heavy but you have drop dead gorgeous legs, there is no rule against a short beautiful wedding dress that will show off those legs so rock it! It is your day so feel free to slay and turn heads!

Don’t forget to relax! I understand that this period is an incredibly stressful one with so much to worry about but there is only so much you can do. Do the best you can and don’t stress over the rest. Choose capable bridesmaids that you can delegate some simple tasks to. It will make life easier! If you find yourself getting stressed and worried, then it is time to take a break. Go on a staycation or a weekend break and look for fun things to do that will take your mind off worrying. Just relax! Even when you are eating well and exercising, you will find it hard to lose weight if you trigger the stress hormones! Keep that in mind.

Finally, it is a good idea to involve your partner, friends and family in your journey too. Losing weight is easier when you have support from your loved ones. They will keep you accountable and motivate you to reach your goals. Besides they won’t tempt you with junk when they know you have goals. If possible, enlist your partner, family and friends into getting healthy too! It will be a win-win situation for everyone!

To be honest, getting rid of some of that stomach flab isn't going to make you a better or happier bride but at least you’ll be a hotter one! You’ve got this! Take your time. Do your thing and transform your body one pound at a time. If you need help, get professional help. But nothing should stop you from wanting to look your best on your D-day. When the D-day finally arrives, look your best and appreciate the journey you have made to look fabulous!

And above all, have a Happy Married Life!
